Technology Campus

The new Inbicon Biomass Technology Campus™ being built now at the port of Kalundborg is both a demonstration and an invitation.  The first stage is a demonstration model of the Inbicon Biomass Refinery.  It will showcase our breakthrough conversion technology and our new path for producing fuel ethanol and valuable co-products.

The next stage of our tech campus will be an inviting place for clients, partners, researchers, political leaders—all those seeking better solutions to the world’s energy and environmental challenges.  It will house a comprehensive research and development capability, set up like a technology transfer station, an idea incubator, a collaborative lab for ongoing feedstock testing, and an international round table for exchanging knowledge on biomass conversion.

Collaborating partners can come test their new concepts and equipment. Prospective clients will get hands-on understanding of Inbicon technology.  Imagine a place to discover, to learn, to participate in new conversations about clean energy.  And a place where clients can learn how to run their new operations before they’re built, and where key staff can be trained.

An important feature of the Technology Campus is how the Inbicon Biomass Refinery is being integrated with the Dong Energy Power Plant at Kalundborg port.  Waste heat from the power plant will help process the wheat straw, or other cellulosic material.  And the powdered biofuel that’s a byproduct of the ethanol production will replace some of the coal burned by the power plant.  This co-generation gives the Inbicon model a competitive edge.

As part of a big company that started out thinking big, we’re taking practical, realistic, well-considered steps to make ethanol work for the world.

Until the new Inbicon Biomass Technology Center is completed, tech research will be located next to the headquarters of DONG Energy in Skærbæk, Denmark.

At present our R&D site, we have a large-scale pilot plant and a well-equipped laboratory. Here we nurture the new ideas that will be tomorrow’s change drivers in an environment structured to foster the rapid exchange of knowledge and insight among designers and engineers.  We also encourage inventors to come work together with us where unconventional thinking is prized.
