With the transport sector accounting for over 20% of the EU countries emissions and highly dependent on oil, there is a need for a green transformation that will decarbonise the sector. The European Parliament's Environment Committee (ENVI) has recently adopted a draft law regarding biofuels with a binding 1.25% target for advanced biofuels. This is an important milestone to push the industry forth and positively contribute towards the Renewable Energy Directive of 10% renewable energy in the transport sector.
CEO of Inbicon and Vice President at DONG Energy Henrik Maimann is positive towards this recent development: "Europe is home to the advanced bioethanol sector, however, the industry have for several years looked elsewhere to find growth. Today, bioethanol is truly the only sustainable and viable opportunity that fits with our current infrastructure. The advanced 2G technology is ready for deployment and will deliver on its promise to create agricultural development, green jobs, reduce EU's import dependence while lower emissions in transport. Inbicon looks forward to contribute to the EU's journey."
