DONG Energy is a world leader in offshore wind power and strongly devoted to the conversion of our power plants from coal and gas to sustainable biomass in Denmark. The Thermal Power division is now taking a new step up in the transformation to establish a platform for growth in the European market towards 2020.

To head the new efforts, DONG Energy has appointed Anna-Lena Jeppsson as a new member of the Executive Committee of the Thermal Power business unit. Anna-Lena was up till now Vice President in Group Strategy MAN Diesel & Turbo and holds previous managerial positions at DONG Energy and McKinsey & Company.

A new bioenergy powerhouse

This new growth platform will be explored under the direction of transforming DONG Energy Thermal Power to a 'Bioenergy Powerhouse'. Together with exploring biomass conversion and biogas in Europe, it will also seek to strengthen New Bio Solutions' biotechnologies Inbicon and REnescience further. Anna-Lena will also take responsibility for developing these new platforms organised under Business Development & Execution and will be replacing former Vice President Henrik Maimann.

Thomas Dalsgaard, Executive Vice President of Thermal Power, explains: "Henrik has over the past three and a half years performed a very important job in New Bio Solutions. He has developed the business – in spite of difficult market conditions." Dalsgaard continues: "New Bio Solutions is now entering a new phase that requires new competences and I am convinced Anna-Lena is right for the tasks."
