100 kg/h pilot plant
In 2003, DONG Energy, together with several partners, constructed a pilot plant (= a small-scale plant for research and development). The purpose was to develop an overall concept for the production of second-generation bioethanol. The aim was also to show that the concept is environmentally sound and financially attractive for bioethanol producers that choose to invest in this technology.
Since 2003, the plant has been operated and modified, and today the hydrothermal pretreatment is an Inbicon Core Technology
The 100 kg/h pilot plant is located at Inbicon’s test facilities in Skærbæk, Denmark..
The 100 kg/h pilot plant is used for process development – the biomass is treated at near-industrial conditions, while operational and process parameters can be varied and tested within a short time frame. This makes it possible for us to test new feed stock, enzymes etc. very efficiently and with a very short time span.
